Hub Team Profiles – Sophie Mallett

By carlhub

Sitting safe behind my notepad, I’ll be posting short interviews of the key staff at Hub – an insight into the minds of our creative team behind the camera.

Sophie Mallet Hub TV

What’s your favourite movie, why why why?

Big Business. Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin in a classic comedy of errors. Need. I. Say. More?

What does your role at Hub entail?

Lots of oganising, shooting, editing…. living, loving, laughing! Essentially just producing.

Epic lunch choice when at the office.

Once I ate a lunchtime kebab. This was a mistake.

A classic moment since you’ve been with Hub or a fond memory.

Learning about Paul’s youth is my fondest memory. Please ask him so that then it will be yours too.

How do you spend your Sunday afternoons?

Riding around to car boot sales on my (novelty size) bike, drinking weak lattes and listening to This American Life.

Favourite bit of kit or software to use at work.

Given my radio background I’m still getting to grips with our cameras, so maybe my favourite bit of kit is the digital audio recorder. I feel at home in its embrace.

Favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe.

A bumbag. Handy, stylish and a definite in with any Londoner.

If you could have worked on one non-Hub project?

I have a definite weak spot for anything Louis Theroux – unique access teamed with a gormless yet casually intellectual approach always has me intrigued. I love that the awkwardness is so tangible when you’re watching it – what a treat to be in situ for some seriously tense interviews.

Alert! Sophie has confessed for wearing a bumbag for reals, not just in an ironic manner.
