It is with great pride we take this opportunity to share the recent achievements and accolades of our creative director, Renee Vaughan Sutherland, who received one of 39 Wacl 2019 Future Leader Awards. The awards are designed to support women’s careers with bursaries to pursue further training and education.
This year, the Future Leaders Award committee was chaired by Victoria Fox, chief executive of AAR, who mentioned that the overriding theme of the submissions was around realising real change.
Renee and fellow FLA recipient, Jackie Scully from Think Publishing, were also recipients of the prestigious Patricia Mann Award. Patricia Mann was an exceptional woman; during her 47-year tenure at J Walter Thompson, she supported women to achieve greatness and pushed for increased diversity within the industry.
Renee was commended for enhancing equality in her role as creative director at Hub and for creating and hosting the weekly podcast Greater than 11%, which puts the spotlight on women working in the creative industries by interviewing them about their creative journey, career and experiences.
Renee said of winning the awards:
I was lost for words on receiving the Patricia Mann Award. Mann was such an inspirational woman. The award has energised and deepened my sense of responsibility to roll up my sleeves and work harder for a more diverse creative industry!
Can’t thank the fabulous WACL Team enough for their support, encouragement and for manifesting change!
Our sincerest congratulations go to Renee and we look forward to her continued drive for diversity and to seeing how the benefits of the Wacl bursary develop her talents and add value to Hub’s future campaigns.
